Dear Parent(s) and Members of the Community,
Everyone knows that schools need more resources. Many extra-curricular programs that once helped produce a well-rounded education have been trimmed down or eliminated completely – field trips, sports, arts, music.
Many of the teachers are paying out of their own pockets for classroom extras.
Now, thanks to a new state law, you can donate any amount up to $400 to our school and it won’t cost you anything. You even get to choose which extra-curricular activity you would like your donation to go to. Yeah right, you say…well, here’s how it works. Let’s say that you usually pay $500 in state income tax. When you send our school $200, your state income tax is reduced to only $300. You get a dollar-for-dollar tax credit in the amount of your gift! Please fill out the attached form and send it in with your donation, payable in cash or check to PSAE. A married couple filing jointly may donate any amount up to the maximum of $400 during the calendar year. A person filing single may also donate up to the maximum of $200 during the calendar year. And most importantly, you don’t have to have children enrolled in our school to take advantage of this special program and you don’t even have to donate the full amount...any amount will help...i.e. $20, $40 or even $50. If you are interested in helping the young people in our community please consider making your monetary donation before the year is over in December. This will allow you to claim your tax credit on your 2009 taxes. Please remember all donations, whether monetary or otherwise, are always accepted and very much appreciated.
